Nur ein paar Winzer kamen um ihre Flasche &#8222;Fendant&#8220; in dem kleinen See zu k\u00fchlen. Das Niveau des Wassers reichte damals bis \u00fcber die heutige Deckenh\u00f6he. Als das Wasser im Fr\u00fchjahr sank, kam die Grotte zum Vorschein. Die Bewohner von St-L\u00e9onard setzten die schweizerische Gesellschaft f\u00fcr H\u00f6hlenforschung in Kenntnis, die sofort zwei Mitglieder vor Ort schickte<br \/>\n<strong> An Ostern 1943<\/strong> soll der ber\u00fchmte H\u00f6hlenforscher <strong>Jean-Jacques Pittard<\/strong>, in Begleitung von <strong>Jacques Della Santa<\/strong>, die H\u00f6hle mithilfe einer Luftmatratze erforscht haben. Nach mehreren Stunden in der Grotte, kommen sie wieder heraus, um die ersten Messungen vorzunehmen, ganz erf\u00fcllt von der Sch\u00f6nheit der Anlage.<br \/>\nAm 25. Januar 1946 um 18 Uhr 32 ersch\u00fcttert ein grosses Erdbeben die Region, auf der Richterskala von 6,1 mit dem Epizentrum in Sitten-Ayent. Es entstehen risiege Risse in den senkrechten Mauern und auf dem Grund des Sees, durch diese beginnt das Wasser zu sinken. Der See wird schiffbar<\/p>\n<p><strong>Im Jahre 1949<\/strong> wurde der unterirdische See dank der Unternehmungslust von zwei jungen Leuten aus Saint-L\u00e9onard, der \u00d6ffentlichkeit zug\u00e4nglich gemacht. Seine Entstehung erfolgte in mehreren Etappen und dauert bis heute an.<\/strong> Alles beginnt mit dem Erscheinen und der Platzierung der drei Felsen, die den See umgeben. Die Nordwand besteht aus schwarzem Schiefer oder &#8222;<strong>Kohlenschiefer<\/strong>&#8222;, einem Gestein aus dem Karbon (mehr als 300 Millionen Jahre alt), w\u00e4hrend die S\u00fcdwand aus Marmor, &#8222;<strong>dem Stein von St-Leonard<\/strong>&#8222;, besteht. Diese beiden Felsen, die vollkommen wasserdicht sind, erm\u00f6glichen das seitliche Zur\u00fcckhalten von Wasser im Inneren der H\u00f6hle. In der Mitte dieser beiden Felsen finden wir Gips oder &#8222;Gipsstein&#8220;, ein Sedimentgestein, das mit der Zeit por\u00f6s und wasserl\u00f6slich wird. Dieser Gips, der vor 220 Millionen Jahren auftauchte, als das Wallis noch ein riesiger Ozean war, w\u00e4re bei der Entstehung der Alpen zwischen den Marmorbalken und den Schieferbalken geschoben worden. W\u00e4hrend das Auftreten und die Einlagerung dieser Gesteine \u00fcber mehrere hundert Millionen Jahre erfolgte, wird die Ausgrabung des Hohlraums durch die Einwirkung von Wasser auf den Gips erst einige tausend Jahre zur\u00fcckverfolgt. Eine Hypothese geht sogar davon aus, dass der Erosionsprozess in der Nacheiszeit begann, also vor weniger als 12.000 Jahren. Das abflie\u00dfende Wasser sickert durch den durchl\u00e4ssigen Gips, beg\u00fcnstigt durch die zahlreichen Risse, die durch die h\u00e4ufigen Erdbeben in der Region verursacht werden, und auch durch die geographische Lage des Sees, am Fu\u00dfe und an der Seite des Berges. Diese W\u00e4sser steigen entlang des Hangs herab und sickern durch den Gips in den Untergrund ein und bilden durch &#8222;aufl\u00f6sende Wirkung&#8220; unterirdische Kan\u00e4le. Mit der Zeit dehnen sich diese Kan\u00e4le aus und bilden Brunnen, die das Wasser tiefer bringen und speichern. Diese W\u00e4sser f\u00fchren zu einem Ph\u00e4nomen der &#8222;Desquamation&#8220;, das den wasserdurchtr\u00e4nkten Gips dazu zwingt, im Volumen zu quellen, wodurch er sich abl\u00f6st und in Richtung des Bodens des entstehenden Hohlraums kollabiert. Dieser Erosionsprozess erm\u00f6glichte die Bildung des &#8222;Unterirschen Sees von St-L\u00e9onard&#8220;, dessen Ausdehnung bis heute anh\u00e4lt.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"has_eae_slider elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Das Wasser im &#8222;Unterirdischen See von St-L\u00e9onard&#8220; stammt aus verschiedenen Quellen. Da der See sich 30 bis 70 Meter unter den Weinbergen von St-L\u00e9onard befindet und bew\u00e4ssert wird, dringt ein wenig von dem Wasser durch den Gips in den See ein. Dieses Wasser macht jedoch nur einen sehr geringen Anteil aus, den weitaus h\u00f6heren Anteil nehmen Regenwasser und Schmelzwasser ein. Beides flie\u00dft den Hang des Berges hinunter und beginnt den Prozess der Infiltration, wenn es auf den Gips st\u00f6\u00dft. Es soll auch unterirdische Quellen geben, die das Wasser direkt in den See bringen. Diese Quellen sind vor allem am Anfang des Jahres beim Schmelzen des H\u00f6henschnees aktiv. Alle diese Gew\u00e4sser durchlaufen den See und versickern dann im Grundwasser der Rh\u00f4neebene.
